When your domain uses our nameservers, ns1.lurstanhost.net and ns2.lurstanhost.net, cPanel creates the mail records for you. You do not need to add anything.
| Record | What it does |
|---|---|
| MX on your domain | Points at your domain itself, for example yourdomain.com, with priority 0. This is where other servers deliver your incoming mail. |
mail.yourdomain.com |
Points to the same place as your domain. |
| SPF (a TXT record on your domain) | Tells receiving servers that our server may send mail for your domain. |
DKIM (a TXT record on default._domainkey.yourdomain.com) |
The public key receiving servers use to check the signature on your mail. |
You can check the SPF and DKIM records in cPanel, on the Email Deliverability page.
The MX record and mail.yourdomain.com both follow your domain's own address (its A record). If you point your domain at a website on another server, your incoming mail will go to that server too. Open a ticket before you make that change.
Server names for mail apps
There are no imap., pop3. or smtp. names for your domain. Connect your mail app to cloud.lurstanhost.net:
- IMAP: port 993, SSL/TLS
- POP3: port 995, SSL/TLS
- SMTP: port 465 with SSL/TLS, or port 587 with STARTTLS
- Username: your full email address. Password: the mailbox password.
If your DNS is managed elsewhere
If your domain uses another provider's nameservers but your mailboxes are on our web hosting or WordPress hosting, add these records at that provider:
- MX: the MX record must point to a name that leads to our server, 94.249.153.203. If your website is also with us, point it at your domain, as we do. If your website is somewhere else, add an A record for
mail.yourdomain.comwith the address 94.249.153.203 and point the MX atmail.yourdomain.com. - SPF and DKIM: in cPanel, open Email Deliverability, click Manage next to your domain and copy the records it shows.
Then, in cPanel, open Email Routing and choose Local Mail Exchanger, so that the server keeps delivering mail for your domain into your mailboxes.
Business email (OX App Suite) uses its own mail records, not these. Open a ticket if you need them.
DNS changes can take a few hours to reach every server. If you need a hand, open a ticket.
