Secure Your Account with Two-Factor Authentication
Your password is the key to your servers, domains, and billing information. However, passwords can be stolen or guessed. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds a second lock to your account, ensuring that you are the only person who can log in—even if someone else knows your password.
What is 2FA?
Two-Factor Authentication requires two things to access your account:
-
Something you know: Your password.
-
Something you have: A temporary, unique code generated by an app on your smartphone.
Step 1: Download an Authenticator App
Before enabling 2FA on our site, you need an app to generate the security codes. We recommend downloading one of the following free apps on your smartphone:
-
Google Authenticator (iOS / Android)
-
Microsoft Authenticator (iOS / Android)
-
Authy (iOS / Android)
Step 2: Enable 2FA in the Client Area
Follow these simple steps to activate 2FA on your Lurstan Host account:
-
Log In: Access your Client Area using your email and password.
-
Access Security Settings:
-
Click on your profile icon/name in the top right corner.
-
Select "Security Settings" from the dropdown menu.
-
-
Activate: Look for the section labeled Two-Factor Authentication and click the button that says "Click here to Enable".
Step 3: Connect Your Device
-
Select Time-Based Tokens: If asked to choose a method, select "Time Based Tokens" (this is the standard QR code method).
-
Scan the QR Code: Open the Authenticator app on your phone and select "Add Account" or the "+" symbol. Scan the QR code shown on your screen.
-
Verify: Your app will now generate a 6-digit code. Type this code into the box on the Lurstan Host website to verify the connection.
⚠️ Important: Save Your Backup Codes!
Once 2FA is enabled, you will be shown a list of Backup Codes.
-
Copy these codes and save them somewhere safe (like a password manager or a physical notebook).
-
If you lose your phone or delete the app, these backup codes are the only way you can regain access to your account without contacting support.
