Your client area login gives access to your services, domains and invoices. Two-factor authentication (2FA) adds a second step when you log in: after your password, you type a six-digit code from an app on your phone. Someone who learns your password still cannot log in without your phone.

Step 1: install an authenticator app

Install a free authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. Both are available for Android and iPhone.

Step 2: turn on 2FA in the client area

  1. Log in to the client area.
  2. Open the account menu (your name, at the top right) and select Security Settings.
  3. Under Two-Factor Authentication, select Click here to Enable.
  4. Choose Time Based Tokens and select Get Started.
  5. In the app on your phone, add an account and scan the QR code on the screen.
  6. Type the six-digit code the app shows and select Submit.

Step 3: save your backup code

The client area then shows your backup code: 16 letters and numbers in four groups. Write it down or save it in a password manager, then select Close. You cannot see this code again later.

If you lose your phone

Log in with your email address and password as usual. On the next page, select Login using Backup Code and enter your backup code. If you are shown a new backup code, save it. Then go to Security Settings, turn 2FA off and set it up again on your new phone.

If you have lost both your phone and your backup code, open a support ticket from the email address on your account. We answer within one working hour, Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:30 (Lagos time).

Turning 2FA off

You can turn 2FA off at any time on the Security Settings page. We recommend that you leave it on.
