If you have a VPS from Lurstan Host, you can point an existing domain to it by changing the domain's A records to the IP address of the VPS.
In the domain's DNS zone (the Zone Editor in cPanel if your DNS is with us, or the control panel of your DNS provider) you will find A records that look similar to these:
domain.com -> A Record -> IP Address
*.domain.com -> A record -> IP Address (only if the zone has a wildcard record)
Replace the current IP address with the VPS IP address:
domain.com -> A Record -> VPS IP Address
*.domain.com -> A record -> VPS IP Address
If www.domain.com is a CNAME record pointing to domain.com, leave it as it is: it follows the main record. If it is an A record, change it too.
Email: if the domain's email is on our shared hosting, its mail records may point at the domain name itself. Changing the domain's A record would then send email to the VPS. Before you change anything, open a support ticket and we will set the mail records so that email keeps working.
The change can take a few hours to reach everyone, depending on the records' TTL. If you need help, open a support ticket. We answer within one working hour, Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 17:30 (Lagos time).
